People are dead in their sins apart from God. But the Good News is that Jesus came into the world that whosoever repents and believes in him receives Eternal Life. Jesus was the only one who perfectly walked a sinless life, therefore became “the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (John 1:29). Jesus came to “save and seek the lost” (Luke 19:10). What did we need saving from? The wrath of God and the wages of sin which is death.

When the first human beings disobeyed God in the beginning, sin came into the world and man became separated from God spiritually and relationally, death reigned. The only way for mankind to be brought back in right relationship with God is for the wages of sin to be paid. Jesus was the sufficient payment for our sins. He died a painful death for mankind and uttered the words “it is finished” on the cross.

Through Jesus we can have peace with God and be forgiven of the penalty of sin. Jesus conquered death so that all who believe in him are brought back to life. Salvation is only found through Jesus. There is no other way to be saved from our sin except through the name of Jesus.
